Amadeus Hospitality, a global leader in travel and hotel technology, had long recognized the need for a strong digital foundation. Over time, they partnered with multiple teams and agencies to resolve their technical SEO and performance marketing challenges.
However, the same issues – recurring indexing problems, slow site speed, and inefficient paid ad performance – kept resurfacing. Despite multiple attempts, these technical gaps continued to impact their visibility, traffic quality, and conversion potential.
When they came to us, they had a clear goal. They wanted to stop ongoing technical problems. They also aimed to build a scalable strategy. This strategy would deliver steady results in both organic and paid channels.
Then, we started with a full-stack audit. We fixed old SEO errors. We improved crawl paths and boosted site performance. We also revamped ad campaigns with user behavior data.
We used our technical skills and a focus on performance to stabilize their digital presence.
We made structured SEO changes and optimized ads. This helped eliminate friction points and resulted in higher-quality leads. Consequently, we achieved better ROI.
Amadeus now has a scalable digital foundation. It’s built for both search engines and real users.
Let’s explore how we reached those results in both organic search and paid campaigns. We followed a clear and organized strategy.
When we completed our first full SEO audit for Amadeus, it was clear why their organic performance was inconsistent.
The site had many technical issues. Some were small, and others were critical. Together, they made it hard for Google to crawl, index, and trust the site. And when a site has that many blind spots, even great content can’t shine.
Here’s what we discovered:
- Internal broken links: Many internal links are broken. This has affected how search engines move through the site.
- Multiple canonical tags: Some key pages had more than one canonical tag. This confused Google.
- Hreflang tag issues: They were not set up correctly, so international versions were misinterpreted.
- Redirect loops: They slowed down pages and frustrated users.
- Unwanted pages in Sitemap: The sitemap had many low-priority URLs that didn’t need indexing.

This wasn’t just a technical cleanup. These issues were directly linked to drops in visibility and loss of traffic. And they were happening on important, conversion-focused pages.
Rather than rushing to publish more content or build links, we knew we had to get the foundation right.
First, we had to fix the technical issues that were hurting Amadeus’ visibility and conversions.
We went deep into a full SEO audit, and what we uncovered explained a lot about why their growth was stuck. Each of these issues, on its own, might not seem too damaging – but together, they were holding the site back.
1. Multiple canonical tags on the same page
This one was tricky. We found two canonical tags on several key pages. One was added manually in the header, and the other was automatically injected by the SEO plugin.
The problem? They pointed to different URLs. This confuses Google. It can lead to the page being ignored or indexed the wrong way.
We cleaned it up. We removed the plugin-based duplicates and kept one clean canonical tag per page. Each tag points to the preferred version. This alone helped many pages regain indexing stability.
2. Incorrect Hreflang Tag Implementation
We found a common problem in the hreflang tag setup during our international SEO process. For French users, Amadeus had correctly set up pages under the /fr/ path. But here’s where it went wrong:
No matter what language you used – English, Spanish, or any other – the French version always came up in search results.
This confuses users and sends mixed signals to Google. It affects language targeting and page relevance.
We found the root cause. The hreflang tag was only on the French version. It was missing for all other language versions. As a result, Google had no idea what to serve to non-French users.
We added the right hreflang tags for each supported language. We also included the default version for English speakers. This made sure users in each region saw the right version of the site in their language.
After we implemented it, Google Search improved location targeting. The correct language versions showed up in the right regions – as they should.
3. Internal Broken Links - 3,000
While conducting the site audit, we noticed a key problem: there were a lot of broken internal links throughout the website.
These broken links didn’t just affect the user experience. They sent Google bots in circles. This wasted crawl budget on dead ends. Instead, they should have focused on important pages.
We didn’t just remove everything without thought. Our team manually reviewed each broken link. We checked whether the destination page was important, outdated, or still relevant.
We removed or redirected pages that weren’t useful. We restored or linked essential pages from active parts of the site.
This cleanup made a big difference. Google began crawling the site better. It focused on high-value pages and stopped hitting errors. The cleanup also boosted internal link equity. This helped key landing pages get found and indexed faster.

4. Redirect Chain and Loops:
Redirect Chains and Loops Some pages got caught in redirect chains. They went through 3 to 4 URLs before landing on the final page. Others caught users in loops, bouncing them back and forth between broken paths. Not only did this slow things down, but it also made Google less likely to follow through to the final content.
Need to add an issues audit with Semrush and past it here
We audited and simplified all redirect chains. Now, every valid redirect goes through just one step. This boosts load times and makes SEO clearer.
Crawl Waste from Unnecessary Pages The site had many low-value pages that search engines could still see.
These included test URLs, old blog posts, and outdated landing pages.
These weren’t driving any traffic or conversions, but they were still being crawled.
We cut more than 200 unnecessary pages. We also updated the sitemap and tightened the robots.txt file. This helps focus the crawl budget on what really matters. This made the site more focused – and helped Google see it that way too.
When we shifted our focus to the paid side, we realized something key: Amadeus’s ads were generating awareness, but not enough qualified leads.
Many people clicked, but few became MQLs. The problem wasn’t effort; it was alignment. The messaging didn’t match the user intent. Landing pages were broad and not focused on action. Campaigns lacked segmentation based on where someone was in the funnel.
Rather than pushing generic ads, we designed a strategy we call Lead Magnet Ads – campaigns that offer real value before asking for anything in return. The goal? Spark interest, build trust, and attract the right kind of MQLs.
